Thomas C. Cundy, Chairman/CEO/Founder of CUNDY, Inc., 80, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014, peacefully at his home in Miami Beach, FL. Tom was raised in Bellevue, Kentucky; in 1951 he graduated from Bellevue High School and won the Kentucky State High School Tennis Championship. Tom was awarded a Tennis Scholarship to Florida State University where he was a four year Letterman, graduating in 1955. Upon graduation from FSU, Tom entered the United States Marine Corps and obtained the rank of Captain. In 1958, "TC" began his insurance career and developed his business, CUNDY, Inc. into one of the leading privately held employee benefit consulting firms in the country. A few of his many highlights during his career include being the Leading Producer Nationally for many of the largest Insurance Companies in the country and consulting for numerous Fortune 500 companies. In 1973, an Insurance Industry Trade Journal awarded Tom the Top Producer in the Country. Some of Tom's achievements, awards, and honors include: Bellevue High School Commencement Speaker, 1984 & 2000; Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame, 1985; proud recipient of the Horatio Alger Award presented at the Supreme Court in Washington, DC, 2000; Board of Trustees of The Florida State University Foundation - 1984 - 1993; past member of the Board of Directors of the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island; Kentucky Colonels; Bellevue High School Hall of Distinguished Alumni; Bellevue High School Sports Hall of Fame; 2006 recipient of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Award. He is survived by his wife, Jane; his sons, Thomas Jr. (Elizabeth), David (Julie) both of Ft. Lauderdale and John "Jay" (Michelle) of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Kelly Lee, Thomas C. III, Chase P., Connor D., Holly L. and Katherine G. He was predeceased by his stepdaughter, Susan Strong.
