Ralph Donald Wyly, Jr. "Don", of Lutz, age 79, passed away on May 13, 2012 due to complications from lung disease (COPD). Don was born in Silver Spring, MD. His family moved to Pass-a-Grille, in 1938, and then to the Jacksonville area in 1942. After graduating from high school, Don went on to earn BA and MA degrees in English literature at FSU and a PhD from Ohio State in 1965. Don was an English professor at USF for 35 years, specializing in 18th century British literature; he retired in 2000. Beyond his family, Don's great passions were classical music and tennis, which he enjoyed all his life, and Italy and all things Italian. Don is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Katherine; two daughters, Lynne Calligaro of Alexandria, VA, and Susan Sayers of Newton, MA; five grandchildren, Alexa, Ryan, Julia, Natalie, and Lauren; and two brothers, Ted Wyly of Daytona Beach and John Hall of Largo.
