Obituary for Thomas Michael Smith Published in the Peru Tribune on September 27, 2012 Thomas Michael Smith, born in La Porte, Indiana on December 2, 1933, passed away Friday evening, September 21 at his home in Naples. He is survived by Mary Boyle Smith, his wife of 56 years, and four daughters: Susan Smith of Seattle, Washington; Sheila Douglas of Guelph, Ontario, Canada; Sara Baldwin of Naples; Sharon Linard of Columbus, Ohio. He was predeceased by his son Timothy Matthew Smith. Also surviving are eight grandchildren. T. Michael received undergraduate and graduate degrees from Florida State University, and received his law degree from Georgetown University in 1962. He practiced as an attorney in Indiana and served as circuit court judge in Miami County, IN until 1991. He was a member of St. Agnes Church in Naples, the Knights of Columbus, and Georgetown University Alumni Association. He was an active do-it-yourselfer and enjoyed woodworking, auto repair and construction. T. Michael had a thirst for knowledge and travelled Europe extensively. |
