Obituary for Robert William Cruickshank.
Published by Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach, Fla.

Bob was born in Detroit, MI to Shirley (Harris) and William Cruickshank. His stepfather was Charles Wharton. A gifted athlete, Bob grew up in Birmingham, MI and attended Florida State University on a full scholarship for diving where he also received a Master's degree in Business Administration. Bob served in the U.S. Navy and then worked at TIAA and the Rosenwald family prior to starting his own business. He was a director at several companies throughout his lifetime.

Bob resided in New Canaan, CT for nearly 40 years where he was very active in the community. He served on the Board of Finance, as a director of the YMCA, and loved coaching and playing hockey at the Winter Club. He moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL in 2006 where he continued working and enjoyed many more opportunities to play golf, an activity he loved.

Always curious and adventurous, Bob was a kind, humble, and honest person who found the goodness in life and shared it with others. A gifted listener and a quiet leader, Bob had an incredible ability to analyze and simplify complex data, providing opportunities for many others to understand it. Though seldom one to offer unsolicited advice, Bob provided much wisdom and guidance to the many who sought it from him.

Bob cherished his family and friends. He was so grateful to have met and married Susan, his wife of 21 years. Together they shared many wonderful memories and supported each other unconditionally throughout their life together. Bob's family will miss his kindness, laughter, love, and gentle spirit.

In addition to his wife, Susan, Bob is survived by his daughter, Tracy Cruickshank (Kevin Duwe), his son, Jeff Cruickshank, his stepdaughters, Emily Potter (Brandon), Erika Weaver (Darren), his four grandchildren, Lucy, Maya, Jackson, and Ryan, and his siblings, Ronald Wharton, Sandy Palazzolo, and Donna Fogarty.
