Selected as a Champion Beyond the Game in 2015 Vickie M. Smith
Jackson has over 22 years of technical design and sales experience with
AT&T, BellSouth and Lucent Technologies where she managed Fortune 500 and
global accounts. Following her career in the technology field, she shared
her knowledge with students in Miami-Dade County Public Schools as an
International Business instructor. Presently she is a realtor and Principal
of IBE Financial Group, LLC. She is a community activist and civic leader
in South Florida. She is an Executive Committee member of the Community
Relations Board, is President of the CHI Foundation, and is a board member
of Our Kids of South Florida, Inc. She is recognized as a family
empowerment and domestic violence prevention advocate. She has promoted the
arts, business, and track and field development. Ms. Jackson, a graduate of
Miami Edison Senior High School, completed a high school foreign studies
program in El Escorial, Spain. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in
Physical Education from Florida State University and a Masters of Business
Administration degree from Nova-Southeastern University. At FSU, she was a
member of the Lady Seminole Track and Field team from 1973-1977 where she
excelled as a shot-putter. Jackson won numerous track and field
competitions, including the 1976 Martin Luther King Invitational Freedom
Games in Atlanta, Ga. She qualified for the NCAA Women's Collegiate
Championships each year she competed for FSU. Jackson's shot-put record of
46-7.5 stood at FSU from 1977 – 1996. She is the mother of three sons,
Ian, Brett and Erik Jackson. |
