Vincent Joseph Druding, Jr. Obituary
Published in the Indianapolis Star on 15 Mar 2010, page A16.

Vincent Joseph Druding, Jr., 75 and Michael Vincent Druding, 49, Noblesville, IN, passed away March 11, 2010. Vincent was born in Philadelphia on September 13, 1934 to Vincent J., Sr. and Irene Dooling Druding. Vincent was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers David and Richard; his son Daniels J. Druding and his wife of 51 years, Marian, whom he married on May 31, 1958 at St. Hilary Catholic Church, Chicago. Michael V. Druding was born in Chicago on June 10, 1960 to Vincent J. and Marian Wallace Druding. Vincent and Michael are survived by Kristen A. (William) Bussick, Patrick R. (Jessica) Druding, Colleen M. (Jeffrey) Scariano, and Rev. Vincent J. Druding III; grandchildren, Taylor, Katey, Ben, and Zoey Bussick; Emma, Grace and Luke Scariano; and Nicolas and Liam Druding.

Vincent was reared in Edison Park, IL, and educated at St. Julianna's Grade School and St. George Catholic High School in Chicago, of which he was an active and proud alumnus. He attended Beloit College, where he played football and basketball, Florida State University, and completed his college education at Loyola University in Chicago. Vincent served as a radio operator in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Bremerhaven and Gelhanusen, Germany from 1954-55. Vincent followed his father who worked for the Dupont Corporation in Chicago. He completed his career as a manufacturing sales representative, a sole proprietor of Carmel Coatings Consultants. In recent years, he worked for Target Corporation and KMK Logistics.

Vincent was one of the greatest storytellers, and he was an avid sports fan, especially of the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed telling stories around the dinner table and making people laugh. He had a uncanny ability to remember places, names, dates and stories of his experiences in life - he often recited the starting line-up of the 1954 Chicago Cubs - and it brought him joy to share them with others. In recent years, he spent much of his free time at the football, basketball, baseball and soccer games of his grandkids. Vincent and Marian moved their family to Carmel, IN in 1977 and joined Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish, where he coached many sports teams, served on the parish council, and volunteered in many associations. Vincent had a high threshold for pain and seemed to have nine lives: he survived a car accident, a mugging, a stabbing, a shooting, and triple bypass surgery. He rarely complained. He could talk to almost anyone about anything, and will be missed for his memorable stories and the gift of laughter that he shared with all.
