This is an open letter by John Pak as told to Florida State Sports
Information. It serves as a dose of gratitude toward both Florida State
University and the FSU Golf Programs. Dear Florida State, From Scotch Plains to Tallahassee, it's been a fun and fulfilling ride with you. I walked onto this beautiful campus four years ago not fully realizing that my life and future would significantly change with those first few steps. I came here wondering what my next four years could look like. And I wouldn't change any of it for the world. Florida State University has helped me become the person I am today. I've met so many great people here. People that will be life-long friends. I never could have envisioned becoming so attached to a place like FSU and a program like FSU Golf. Both have happened, and I'm so much better for it. Growing up as a homeschooler in New Jersey, FSU was a bit of a culture shock. It took me a bit to get out of my shell and adjust to my surroundings in Tallahassee. But life has taught me that you have to meet your own personal challenges and attack them. I'm so glad this great university allowed me to do that. Luckily, I've had a great support system to help guide me every step of the way. Throughout my career at FSU, I've had the privilege of competing against the best players in college golf, traveling to some of the best courses in the country and establishing relationships with coaches and friends. I've heard the saying that "Florida State is Family." I really found this to be 100 percent accurate. I've shared fairways with 19 awesome teammates. Their drive to constantly work harder pushed me to do the same. I've become a better teammate, golfer and friend thanks to them. Being a Seminole is the bond that will forever tie us. I want to extend my sincerest gratitude to all my coaches - Coach Jones, Coach Duck, Coach Matt, Coach Bond and Coach Parker. Thank you all for believing in me from the very beginning and encouraging me, one tee shot at a time. College athletics is never supposed to be easy, and you all pushed me and made me better. I came to FSU to go to school and play golf. I now leave with a family and a place to call home. I'm forever a Seminole. That can never be taken away from me. GO NOLES! John Pak |
