Clifton Abraham was a quick study at FSU and saw action almost immediately after redshirting as a true freshman. He became the starter as a sophomore and held the position for three years, and as a
senior in 1994 became the fifth consecutive FSU cornerback to earn All-American honors. Abraham would pick off eight passes over his career, but his opportunities for picks diminished as his career blossomed. By midway through his junior year, opposing teams had all but given up on trying to throw to whomever he was covering. He was twice named first team All-ACC and finished his career as an NCAA Consensus All-American, rare even in FSU's great history, and as one of three finalists for the 1994 Jim Thorpe Trophy which signifies the nation's top defensive back. Clifton spent three seasons in the NFL and two in the Canadian Football League. He currently resides in Dallas, Texas. |
