Edgar Bennett was one of the most versatile fullbacks in FSU history whose career all-purpose yardage totaled more than 2300 yards on 389 plays for 20 touchdowns. He was an all-around player who ran a
4.5 40 and caught 93 passes for over 1000 yards. In April of 1992, the Green Bay Packers selected him in the 4th round of the NFL draft. Over his five seasons in the Packer uniform, #34 gained 3,352 yards and in 1995 became only the sixth player in the team's history to rush for 1,000 yards in a season. In 1996, Edgar was the leading rusher when the Packers won the Super Bowl and he continues to hold the club single-season record for receptions by a running back with 78. In 2001, Bennett was named Director of Player Development for the Packers, a position that helps players become acclimated to their roles as Green Bay Packers, both on and off the field. Bennett's efforts in this area were recognized in 2003 as the Packers' Player Development Department was named best in the National Football Conference. Bennett is currently beginning his first season as the running backs coach for the Packers. On July 23, 2005, the Jacksonville native was inducted in the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame. |
