Sonny Tinney won the first annual state inter-collegiate golf championship held in Deland, Fl.

Robert L. (Sonny) Tinney, outputted Pete Dye of Rollins to annex the first annual state inter-collegiate golf championship. The championship started with a field of 29 from five colleges. Tinney was the only Florida State golfer in the field.
