Golf's Wallin Earns All-American Honors.

April 21, 2020

by Chuck Walsh

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Beatrice Wallin, who led the nationally ranked Florida State Women's Golf team in stroke average during the spring 2020 season, has earned All-American Honorable Mention honors from the Women's Golf Coaches Association. It marks the second consecutive season Wallin has earned All-American honors twice in the first two seasons of her career after she earned All-American Honorable Mention honors by Golfweek for her outstanding freshman season in 2019.

Illustrating the depth of the Atlantic Coast Conference, Florida State's Wallin was one of 10 golfers from the top conference in the country for women's golf to be named to the First- Second- and Honorable Mention All-American teams as named to the governing body for collegiate women's golf.

Wallin was a member of Florida State's lineup in three events during its shortened spring scheduled and finished as the Seminoles' leading golfer with a 72.00 stroke average. She shot her career-best single round score, 66, in the third round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. Wallin's career-best three round tournament score (210) and three-round tournament score vs. par (-10) came as she finished in a tied for fourth place in the individual standings at the season-opening IJGA Guadalajara Collegiate. Her career-best finish of second place came in leading the Seminoles to a second place finish at the Florida State Match-Up.

For Florida State and Head Coach Amy Bond, it marks the fourth consecutive season that at least one Seminole player has earned All-American honors.

"It's a tremendous honor and a tribute to the hard work that Bea has put in this year for her to be named as an All-American," said Bond. She dedicated herself to making some changes in the off season that really increased her confidence in her overall game which paid off heavily in the spring. I am extremely proud of the way she has worked and thrilled that her hard work is paying off."

Wallin enters her junior season ranked third in school history with her 72.56 stroke average entering the 2019-20 season. She owns the sixth-best (72.24 in 2019-20) and 10th-best (72.77 in 2018-19) single-season (fall and spring seasons) stroke averages in school history.

Bond, who will enter her 11th season as Florida State's Head Coach this fall, has built a solid foundation for one of the top programs in college golf.

"Having an All American in each of the last four years is something special for our program," said Bond. "Being an All American means that you are one of the best players in the country. I am thankful that we have been able to bring in players who want to succeed not only on the course but in the classroom as well. As a coach there is a sense of pride when a player reaches their goal or goals. It means that the player was committed to making changes, improving their weaknesses, becoming more consistent in their overall game, and making sacrifices to get the job done. Being an All American and being considered one of the best is one of the ultimate statements you can make as a student athlete that says your hard work is being noticed. We have had some very special players come through here in the last few years that have changed our program for the better. I am excited to have even more follow in their footsteps in the years to follow."

Doherty And Wallin Named GolfWeek All-Americans.

April 28, 2020

by Chuck Walsh

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Senior Amanda Doherty and sophomore Beatrice Wallin, who led the Seminole Women's Golf Team to a final National Ranking of No. 24 in 2020, have both earned All-American Honorable Mention honors from GolfWeek. For Doherty, it marks the second time during her Florida State career that she has earned All-American accolades from GolfWeek after also earning Honorable Mention honors in 2018. It is the second consecutive year Wallin has been named to GolfWeek's All-American list after also earning Honorable Mention honors as a freshman in 2019.

For Head Coach Amy Bond's Seminoles, it marks the fourth consecutive year that two Florida State golfers have earned All-American honors: Doherty (HM) and Wallin (HM) in 2020; Frida Kinhult (1st Team) and Wallin (HM) in 2019; Morgane Metraux (HM) and Doherty (HM) in 2018 and Matilda Castren (3rd Team) and Metraux (3rd Team) in 2017.

"Having two players named All-Americans in each of the last four years is very special," said Bond. "It shows that our program and our players are competing at the highest level of college golf. I am thankful for the work that our players and our coaching staff have put in to achieve this level of success. There is a lot of work still to be done as we continue to build our program; however, this is a great start.

Doherty, who will graduate from Florida State on Saturday with a degree in Sport Administration, completed her career with the fourth lowest career scoring average in school history (73.08) when her senior season was cut short in March. Her senior year stroke average of 72.44 is the ninth lowest for a single year in school history. Doherty won her first career individual title during the spring of 2020 when she finished in first place in the individual standings at the IJGA Guadalajara Collegiate Invitational. Her career-low single round score of 66 came three times - in the Spring 2017 Dickson Intercollegiate, the Spring 2018 NCAA Tallahassee Regional Championship and in the Fall 2018 Cougar Classic.

Doherty, who earned only two academic grades lower than A during her collegiate career (two B's), will graduate from Florida State with Summa Cum Laude honors and better than a 3.9 grade point average for her entire career.

"Amanda had a great senior season going which included her first collegiate win in Mexico," said Bond. "She was a four-year starter and leaves a lasting imprint on our program by being a multi-year All-American."

Wallin was enjoying the best season of her Florida State career when the Seminoles' season ended in March. She is ranked third in school history with her 72.56 stroke average entering her junior season in 20-21. She owns the sixth-best (72.24 in 2019-20) and 10th-best (72.77 in 2018-19) single-season stroke averages in school history.

Wallin was the Seminoles' leading golfer with a 72.00 stroke average during the spring 2020 season. Her career-best single round score, 66, came in the third round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate while her best career three round tournament score (210) and three-round tournament score vs. par (-10) came as she finished in a tie for fourth place in the individual standings at the 2020 season-opening IJGA Guadalajara Collegiate. Wallin's career-best finish of second place came in leading the Seminoles to a second place finish at the 2020 Florida State Match-Up.

"Beatrice followed up being named a WGCA All-American in 2020 by now being named a GolfWeek All-American," said Bond. "She had a tremendous spring which vaulted her to the top of women's collegiate golf. I am excited to have her return for her junior season."

Florida State finished the season ranked No. 22 by GolfStat and No. 24 by GolfWeek - the fifth consecutive season the Seminoles have finished the year ranked within the nation's top-25 teams by GolfWeek: 2020 (No 24), 2019 (No. 10), 2018 (No. 19), 2017 (No. 6) and 2016 (No 24).

Wallin Leads Seminoles Through First Two Rounds Of Cougar Classic.

September 9, 2019

by Chuck Walsh

HANAHAN, S.C. - Sophomore Beatrice Wallin is in a tie for second place in the individual standings, and the Seminole Women's Golf team is in fourth place in the team standings after the first two rounds of the Cougar Classic at the Yeamans Hall Club. Wallin begins play in the third and final round of the event only four strokes behind Auston Kim of Vanderbilt as she plays for the first individual victory of her career as a Seminole.

Vanderbilt and Wake Forest lead the team standings with identical two-round totals of 560. Both the Commodores and the Demon Deacons are 16-under par. Florida State is 14 strokes behind the co-leaders in the race for the team championship. Kim was the only player in the field of 93 players to shoot scores in the 60's in the two rounds played on Monday. She holds a four stroke lead over Florida State's Wallin, teammate Abby Carlson and Emelia Migliaccio of Wake Forest.

Seminole All-American Frida Kinhult is in a tie for eighth place in the individual standings with a two-round total of 141. She carded scores of 74 and 67 and enters the final round with a total of 141. Kinhult's score of 67 in the second round was the 13th score in the 60's during her Florida State career.

"We had two great rounds today which shows we have the potential to go deep with multiple players in the lineup," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "We hope tomorrow we put five really good scores together which this team has the capable of doing."

Wallin carded her career-best single round score of 5 under par 67 in the first round and totaled a 2 under par score of 70 in the second round. Her score of 67 in the first round was one stroke better than her previous career-low score of 67 which she carded twice as a freshman in earning All-American and All-ACC honors. Wallin's 36-hole total of 138 also marks a career-best and is two strokes better than her two-round total of 140 at the Schooner Fall Classic in the Fall of 2019.

Wallin was on fire in the first round as she carded five birdies and 17 holes at par or better to finish with the third best round of the entire first round. She was as many as four strokes under par during the round and was two under par over her final 11 holes of the round. Wallin continued to play well in the second round as she totaled five more birdies and 15 holes scored at par or better. She was as many as three strokes under par in the second round.

"I put together two solid rounds today," said Wallin. "I made some putts which allowed me to score well. We are all looking forward to playing tomorrow."

Wallin finished the first day of play as one of four players with double digit birdies (10). The Seminoles finished the first 36 holes with a total of 30 birdies - tied for the seventh best among the 18 teams in the event.

Kinhult played outstanding golf in the second round as she carded a five under par 67 - the fifth time in her Florida State career that she has carded a single round score of 67 or better. Kinhult is only two strokes out of the top five in the individual standings and only seven strokes out of the lead as she plays for the third individual victory of her career.

Senior Amanda Doherty is in a tie for 30th place in the individual standings after carding a 5 under par score of 67 in the first round. She totaled a team-leading six birdies as she came within one stroke of tying her career-best score for a single round 66.

Wallin Earns Top-10 Finish At Cougar Classic.

September 10, 2019

by Chuck Walsh

HANAHAN, S.C. - Sophomore Beatrice Wallin finished in a tie for seventh place in the individual standings, and the Florida State Women's Golf Team finished in a tie for seventh place in the team standings as play in the 16th Annual Cougar Classic at the Yeamans Hall Club came to a conclusion. Wallin finished with a 1 over par score of 73 and finished with a career-best 5 under par total of 211 to earn the third top-10 finish of her career.

Vanderbilt played the best team round of the third round to win the championship by one stroke over Wake Forest. The Commodores earned the best team scores in the first and the third rounds to win the season opening tournament for all 17 teams in the field. Auston Kim of Vanderbilt shot a 6 under par score of 66 and finished with a 16 under par total of 200 to win the individual championship. She was one of three golfers in the field who finished with an under par score in reach of the three rounds.

"We didn't take advantage of the scoreable positions," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "We have a lot of things we have to tighten up on as we go through the fall. The good thing is this was only the first tournament of the year, and we have plenty of time to work on the things we have to fix."

Wallin earned her third career top-10 finish as she carded a 1 over par score of 73 in the final round to finish the 54-hole event with a score of 211. She carded scores of 68-70-73 to finish as the Seminoles' leader for the third time in her career.

In the final round of the Cougar Classic, Wallin totaled two birdies and 16 holes scored at par or better. She finished well as she was 1 under par over the course of her final 10 holes of the round.

Wallin's tied for seventh place finish marked her best individual placement since finishing in a career-best tied for third place at the spring 2018 Evans Derby Experience.

Senior All-American Amanda Doherty and sophomore All-American Frida Kinhult finished in a tie for 20th place in the individual standings with identical three-round scores of 215. The under par finishes by Wallin (minus five), Doherty (minus one) and Kinhult (minus one) allowed the Seminoles to finish the event as one of only four teams (Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Florida and Florida State) with at least three players at under par for the entire tournament.

Doherty carded a 2 under par score of 70 in the final round to finish under par for the 10th time in her career. She carded two birdies and the sixth eagle of her Florida State career in shooting her score of 70. Doherty closed well as she birded her final two holes of the round; she was four strokes under par on her final 11 holes of the round.

Kinhult finished the tournament with a score of 74 in the third round and a total of 215. Her best score of the tournament came as a 67 in the second round. Kinhult has now finished under par in eight of the first 11 tournaments of her career and is a cumulative total of minus 34 strokes under par for her entire Florida State career.

Sophomore Caroline Hodge carded the best round of her career, a 75, in the final round to finish with a three-round total of 234. Hodge finished with career-best scores for a single-round (75 in the third round), a three round tournament (234) and a three-round tournament vs par (+18) in her first career Cougar Classic appearance.

October 20, 2019

By Chuck Walsh

SAN MARCOS, Tex. - Sophomore Amelia Williamson is in a tie for 21st place in the individual standings, and the No. 13 Florida State Women's Golf Team is in a tie for 10th place in the team standings after two rounds of the Jim West Challenge at the Kissing Tree Golf Course. Williamson carded scores of 72-68 for a career-best 36-hole score of 140 and is only four strokes out of the individual lead heading into the final round of the tournament on Monday.

Texas Tech and Ole Miss are tied for first in the team standings with 18 holes remaining to be played in the Seminole' third of four fall tournaments. The Red Raiders and the Rebels hold an eight-stroke lead over Miami in the race for the team championship. The Seminoles, who finished with a team score of minus seven in the first two rounds, are one of 13 teams in the field of 15 who finished with under par team scores on the first day of play.

"The goal this week was to get this group to step up," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "We showed signs of stepping up but we didn't continue it through 36 holes. In the fall, it's good to struggle because it shows us what we have to work on in order to succeed in the spring. I'd like to see us shoot the round of the day on Monday and leave the state of Texas with a good taste in our mouths."

Williamson, who carded her season-low score of 3 under par 68 in the second round, carded seven birdies and just three holes over par in the first two rounds of the event. In carding her near career-best score of 68 in the second round, she was below par the entire round after earning a birdie on her first hole of the afternoon. With three birdies on her final holes, she moved to four under par to close the round and put herself in contention for the best finish of her Florida State career.

Williamson will play the final round of the event looking to better her career-best finish of tied for 20th at the 2019 ACC Championship.

Sophomore Puk Lyng Thomsen is in a tie for 25th place in the individual standings with scores of 67-74 for a two round total of 141. Her score of 67 in the first round is the best of her Florida State career and was two strokes better than her score of 69 in the third round of the NCAA Auburn Regional on May 8, 2019. In earning her career-best score, Thomsen carded a career-high seven birdies and finished with only one hole scored above par.

Thomsen was as many as five strokes under par in the first round.

Sophomore Beatrice Wallin is in a tie for 33rd place with a two-round total of 143, while freshman Elle Johnson is in a tie for 43rd place with a total of 145. Johnson who is competing in her first collegiate event, carded a 1 under par score of 71 in her first collegiate round and finished the day with scores of 71-74.

SAN MARCOS, Tex. - Sophomore Puk Lyng Thomsen finished in a tie for 17th place in the individual standings, and the No. 13 ranked Florida State Women's Golf Team finished in ninth place in the team standings as play in the Jim West Challenge at the Kissing Tree Golf Course came to a close. Thomsen finished the third round with a team-leading score of 71 and earned the third Top-20 finish of her career.

Ole Miss finished with a 28 under par score of 836 to claim the team championship with a 10-stroke victory over Texas Tech. Including the Seminoles, nine of the 15 teams in the event finished with below par team scores. Seven teams finished at double figures below par. Sasikarn Somboonsup of Texas State - the host team - won the individual championship with a final score of 10 under par 206. She defeated Julia Johnson of Ole Miss by one stroke.

"We got it going early; we just couldn't finish it out," said Seminole Head Coach Amy Bond. "We learned a lot and realized that we have work to do in the off season. The things we have to work on are the little things - once we get them taken care of, we'll be alright."

Thomsen, who led Florida State on the leader board for the first time in her collegiate career, enjoyed her best tournament as a Seminole. She carded her career-best score of 67 in the first round, finished with her career-best 36-hole total of 141, earned her career-best tournament score of 212 and carded her career-best tournament score vs. par of minus four in finishing within six strokes of the individual winner.

"My putting and pitching were the best aspects of my game this week," said Thomsen. "I had some good pitch shots and made some important putts that kept my momentum going in each round. Overall I am happy about many things in my game, but there are some things that need improvement. Most importantly I am making progress towards where I want to be. I am excited about my progress and am very excited that we get to play quickly - this week - in the Landfall Tradition."

Thomsen carded 15 birdies and was under par for 35 of the 54 holes contested in the event. She carded at or below par totals on 44 of the 54 holes (.815 percent) she played and was never more than three strokes above par during the entire event.

Sophomore Amelia Williamson carded a 1 over par score of 73 in the final round and finished with a three round total of even par 216. It marked just the second time in her Florida State career that she finished with an under par tournament score. Williamson totaled scores of 72-68-73 as she carded par or better scores of two of the three rounds played over the two-day event.

by Chuck Walsh

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Senior All-American Amanda Doherty is in a tie for seventh place in the individual standings, and the Florida State Women's Golf team is in a tie for fourth place in the team standings after the first round of the Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall. Doherty carded 17 of her 18 holes under par - including the seventh eagle of her Florida State career - to lead a pair of Seminoles in the top-10 of the individual standings.

Alabama and Illinois, a pair of teams who placed three players in the top 15 of the individual standings, are tied for first place in the team standings after 18 of 54 holes have been played. The Seminoles are in a tie for fourth place in the team standings and are only four strokes out of the team lead. Tunrada Piddon of UCF shot a four under 68 and is the first round individual leader. Doherty is only two strokes behind Piddon in the race for the individual championship.

Leading the way for the Seminoles, both Doherty (tied for seventh in the individual standings) and Puk Lyng Thomsen (tied for ninth in the individual standings) are both in the top-10. Florida State is one of only four teams (the Seminoles, Alabama, Virginia and South Carolina) who have two players in the top 10 of the individual standings after the first two rounds of the tournament.

Doherty carded one eagle, two birdies and 15 holes at par in earning her score of 2 under 70. She was two under on her final 15 holes of the round - one stroke under par on both sides of the course. Doherty was one of five players in the 95 player field with an eagle. The eagle was her second of the fall season - she also earned an eagle in the third round of the season-opening Cougar Classic and has carded three eagles in her last six events dating to the 2019 ACC Championship.

"I hit the ball well today, but I didn't make as many putts as I would have liked," said Doherty. "Overall it was a good day. It's nice to be back with the team; we always have fun when we travel."

Thomson, a sophomore, finished with a 1 under par score of 71 and is in a tie for ninth place in the individual standings. She carded four birdies and was below par over the course of her final 17 holes of the round. She opened the event par-birdie-par and was a total of two strokes under par when she made the turn. Thomson totaled seven of nine holes at par or better on her back nine.

Thomsen has now carded scores of 71 in both of her last two rounds and has finished with under par scores in four of her last five events. She is averaging 70.60 strokes per round and is a cumulative total of five strokes under par since carding a 70 in the third round of the Schooner fall Classic Sophomore Amelia Williamson carded a 74 and freshman Elle Johnson totaled a 77.

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Senior Amanda Doherty is in a tie for second place in the individual standings, and the Florida State Women's Golf team is in third place in the team standings after the second of three rounds in the Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall. Doherty carded a 71 in the second round - her second consecutive sub-par round - and begins play in Sunday's final round only two strokes out of the individual lead as she plays for her first career tournament victory of her Seminole career.

Alabama played the best round of the second day and moved into first place in the team standings. The Crimson Tide holds an 11 stroke lead over South Carolina in the race for the team championship. Florida State is in third place and looking for its second top five team finish of the season. Angelica Moresco of Alabama is the individual leader after 36 holes with a total of 139. She has carded scores of 69-70.

"We put together a good, solid round today," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "We are going into tomorrow looking to shoot the round of the day. We are excited about playing in the final group and we'll see where we finish. We'd really like to end the fall on a high note.

Doherty has carded sores of 70-71 for a two round total of 141. She carded five birdies in the second round as she improved her standing by five positions in the individual standings after finishing the first round in a tie for seventh place. Doherty was even par on her front nine and 1 stroke under par with three birdies on the back nine.

"I've been striking the ball well and, and I've managed to get a few putt to drop," said Doherty. "Tomorrow, I'm going to make sure I stick to my game plan."

Doherty has earned two second place finishes in her career with both coming in the spring of 2018 - at the Florida State Match-Up and the Brickyard Collegiate. She begins play in the final round looking to finish under par in a collegiate tournament for the 10th time in her career. "Amanda is playing some really good golf right now," said Bond. "The greens have a really fast pace to them and she's putting the ball in a position where she can score well."

Sophomore Amelia Williamson carded an even par 72 in the second round and has moved into a tie for 25th place in the individual standings. She has now carded scores of par or better in five of her last seven rounds. Williamson carded three birdies and 12 holes of par golf in finishing with her five score at 72 or better this fall.

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Senior Amanda Doherty finished in a tie for 11th place in the individual standings, and the Florida State Women's Golf team finished in fifth place in the team standings as play in the Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall came to a close. The finish was Doherty's best of the fall season, her 18th career top-15 finish and best finish since earning a sixth place finish in the 2019 NCAA Auburn Regional Championship. For the Seminoles it was their second top-five team finish of the fall season.

Florida State earned four top-10 team finishes during its four-match fall season. The Seminoles begin play on their spring season schedule at the Guadalajara International Invitational Feb. 16-19.

South Carolina rallied from 11 strokes down at the start of the third round to defeat Alabama by five strokes and win the team championship. The Gamecocks played the best round of the day and finished with a team score of 283. Priscilla Schmid of Indiana won the individual title with a three round score of 209 to earn a two stroke victory over Ana Palaez of South Carolina.

"We didn't play our best today," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "But we finished with two birdies and an eagle which allowed us to move into a top five finish. We know what we have to do in the offseason and we've got to put in a lot of work but is nothing that can't be done. We are certainly looking forward to the spring season."

Doherty finished the 54-hole tournament with a score of 75 in the final round of the championship. She carded scores of 70-71-75 to finish in a tie for 11th place. Wallin carded a score of 4 under par 68, and is only two strokes behind the individual leader, LSU's Ingrid Lindblad. Lindblad carded a score of 6 under par 66.

Wallin, who is tied for second in the individual standings, and senior captain Amanda Doherty, who is tied for fifth in the individual standings, are one of only three teammate duos who are in the top five of the individual standings after the first 18 holes. Elodie Chapman (tied for second) and teammate Gurleen Kaur (tied for fifth) of Baylor and Calista Reyes (fourth) and Brooke Seay (tied for fifth) of Stanford are also in the top five of the individual standings with two rounds remaining to be played.

Baylor leads the team standings at the conclusion of round one. The Bears are closely followed by Stanford and Virginia who are currently the only teams who have a gross score under par.

"Bea and Amanda played great golf," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "Both players struck the ball really well, and both feel they could have played better, which is a really good sign for the first official round of the spring. We had to knock the competition rust off. Now that we have done that, we are going to improve on the positives things we did well as well as improving on the things we didn't do well."

Wallin's day began well as she carded an eagle on hole No. 1 to immediately move to 2 strokes under par. She birdied her second hole to move to 3 under par. She finished the round with 17 holes scored at par or better (13 pars, two birdies, one eagle) and only one scored over par.

The eagle was Wallin's fourth in competition as a Seminole and her first since the third round of the 2019 NCAA Championship Finals.

Doherty carded a 2-under par score of 70 as she caught fire midway through the round. She was 3 strokes under par on her final 10 holes of the afternoon with five birdies down the stretch. She went from 1 stroke over par after eight holes to 2 strokes under par with her fifth birdie of the day on hole No. 18.

Doherty, who will play in the Augusta National Women's Amateur in April, is just four strokes out of the individual lead with 36 holes remaining to be played.

Sophomore Amelia Williamson is in a tie for 31st place with a score of 74.

Golf In 2nd Place At Florida State Match-Up.

February 29, 2020

by Kristen Smith, Sports Information Graduate Assistant

PANAMA CITY, Fla. - At the conclusion of round two of the Florida State Match-Up at the Bay Point Golf Club, Florida State shot 27-over par and the Seminoles are second in the team standings.

"Today was a windy day and the course played hard but I think once we got settled in after the first round we played pretty well in the second round and put ourselves in the position to potentially catch the leaders tomorrow," said Seminole Head Coach Amy Bond.

Sophomore Beatrice Wallin finished the first round tied for 11th place in the individual standings but moved up the leaderboard nine spots into second place with scores 75-72. She totaled five birdies and never carded a score more than 1 over par.

"I though Beatrice played very well. Her 75 this morning was very good in the conditions that we had and for her to turn around and shoot even par in the second round was also a really good round," Said Bond. "She's put herself in position to make a run tomorrow, which is certainly doable for her."

Senior Amanda Doherty carded scores of 76-75 securing a tie for eighth place with two birdies on the back nine holes. Junior Kathleen Sumner tied for sixth place with scores 76-74. A birdie on hole 15 of the second round secured her spot on the leaderboard.

"Kathleen played probably two of her most consistent rounds so far in trying conditions and I'm excited to watch her and Amanda play tomorrow," said Bond.

Sophomore Puk Lyng Thomsen, who competed as an individual, played consistently well for all 36 holes. She maintained a top 10 standing throughout the two rounds carding scores 72-77. She scored even par for eight holes of the first round and totaled four birdies.

"Puk's 72 this morning was excellent," said Bond. "And she too has the ability to make a run at the leader."

Leading the individual standing is LSU's Ingrid Lindblad who carded scores 71-72 for a total of 143.

"We need to put together a really good round tomorrow," said Bond. "Overall I'm proud of the way we hung in there and I'm excited to see how we can compete with everyone else tomorrow."

The LSU Tigers are leading the field, along with Clemson in the matchup format. Florida State and Alabama are second and trail the leaders by 11 strokes heading into Sunday.

PANAMA CITY, Fla. - The Florida State Women's Golf Team finished in second-place in the team standings at the sixth Annual Florida State Match-Up at the Bay Point Golf Club.

"It's a tough complex to play so all of the girls deserve a round of applause for hanging in there and getting better as the day went on because the conditions were extremely difficult on a difficult golf course," said Seminole Head Coach Amy Bond.

Sophomore Beatrice Wallin maintained consistent play throughout the tournament and finished in second place. In the third round she carded three birdies for a score of 73.

"I've been playing really well this spring. Over the winter I focused on practicing my swing and the technique and it just feels really good to be playing well," said Wallin.

Senior Amanda Doherty jumped four spots on the leaderboard in the third round. A birdie on hole 16 secured her fourth-place finish after consistently scoring even par all day. She only scored over par once.

Teammate Sandra Salonen made a huge jump on the leaderboard in the third round of play. She finished even par with 3 birdies for a total of 72 on the round. She advanced 16 spots to finish in a tie for 19th place.

"I thought Sandra had a good comeback today," said Bond. "She struggled a little bit in the first round but got better each round and I'm super proud of her for that."

LSU's Ingrid Lindblad claimed the individual title with scores 71-72-69 for a total of 212 and the LSU Tigers scored 22 over par to claim the team title with a total score of 886 - a 14-stroke lead over runner-up Florida State.

The champions of the match-up format are LSU & Clemson with a combined score of 1117. This style of play is a unique and fun way for the girls to learn from and interact with other teams.

"Golf is all about the camaraderie," said Bond. "When the kids can see players head to head it's so much better than them seeing it on paper. For everyone here to be able to play with somebody from another team for three straight rounds is a good thing."

The Seminoles considered this weekend a huge success.

"As difficult as conditions were, we truly saw how dedicated these kids are going to have to be and how internally motivated they're going to have to be when it comes to difficult conditions," said Bond. "So, I thought they hung in there really well. We've still got some work to do."

Wallin surged up the leaderboard in the final round. She shot five under par, carded five birdies, and shot even par on her first six holes of play to jump 38 spots.
