Lyman H. Bond 81, passed away October 11, 2010. He was born in Peru, IN in 1929 and attended Peru High School and briefly played football at Purdue University and on the first Florida State University football team. Lyman was a decorated staff sergeant in the U.S. Army while serving in the Korean War. He earned two Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation and the Combat Infantryman's Badge. Lyman earned his BA and Masters degree at Ball State University. He met his wife Ann Bowers at Ball State University. They married and settled in Indianapolis and later in Fishers. Together they had 2 children and 4 grandchildren. Ann and Lyman had a great marriage filled with travel and fun. Ann preceded him in death in 1998. Lyman will be remembered as full of wisdom, generosity, and wild antics. A great leader, Lyman had a successful 48-year career in business. He founded the Bond Group and was one of the top Stock Brokers in the country, as well as being honored as a President's Chairman's Council member. He was inducted into the Stock Broker Hall of Fame in 1998. Lyman loved football. Coaching at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, in the '70's, and then assistant coach at Hamilton Southeastern High School in the '80's, he was an avid Colts fan and member of the Colts Horseshoe Club. Lyman was proud of Peru, Indiana; he donated part of his seed corn and bean farm to the International Circus Hall of Fame, which was dedicated as a National Historic Landmark in 1987. Lyman was a member of the Service Club, Gyro International, the Colombia Club and the Hawthorns Club. His presence will be missed. He was also a proud graduate of the Marian County "Charm School". Over the past 7 years, Lyman was blessed to have the company of his dear lady friend, Sharon Merriman, in his life. Lyman's parents, Lyman Sr., Laura (Culp) and his wife, Ann, preceded him in death. He is survived by his brothers, Milton (Donna), Jerry (Donna), 3 nieces, 2 nephews, daughter Laura Villanyi, husband Ed, children Anna and Theodore, son L.H. III, children Lyman H. IV. and Ethan.
