George Gary Folsom Obituary. Published by Mitchell Funeral Home at Raleigh Memorial Park. George Gary Folsom Sr., 91, a 60 year resident of Raleigh NC, formerly of Jacksonville Florida, passed away quietly at home surrounded by loving family members, in Clayton North Carolina on August 4 2023. Mr. Folsom was born in Jacksonville, Florida on 19 November 1931; A Son of the late Chester Lee & Eulalia Evangeline Simmons-Folsom. After graduation from Landon H.S Jacksonville in 1949, George was awarded a full athletic scholarship to attend Florida State University in Tallahassee. He played quarterback for the Seminoles (1950, 1951 seasons) after which he entered the US Navy as a Dental Technician. While on active duty, he met his future wife Anna Frances Larkin, who was also a Dental Technician in the Navy. The Couple were married on, 27 December 1953 in Poughkeepsie, New York. George & Anna were active members of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Raleigh. Mr. Folsom worked in textile research during his early years, after which he played a key role in the construction and operation of a coal-gas reactor for North Carolina State University.
Survivors include his beloved wife; Anna Frances of 69 years, and three
