Donald LeRoy Gladden Obituary. Published by The News Journal, Wilmington, Del. on Sep 7, 2005, page 17. Donald LeRoy Gladden, age 74 of Birchwood Park, DE, loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and friend, died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 3, 2005. He will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him. Born in Baltimore, MD, on April 2, 1931, Mr. Gladden attended Florida State where he was the captain and quarterback of the football team, the Florida State Seminoles, in 1948. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, as a staff sergeant, during the Korean Conflict and retired in 1965. He owned and operated the 7-11 on Limestone Road until 1995. He currently had been a security officer at Connective Power Delivery, main gate. Mr. Gladden was an avid sports fan and a member of the Guys and Gals Friday night bowling league at Blue Hen Lanes. Mr. Gladden is survived by his loving wife of
51 years, Nancy L. (Mulcahy) Gladden; daughters, Debby Foster and her
husband, Danny, Donna Jackson and her husband, Bill, and Vicki Suvie and
her husband, Tony; 9 granddaughters, Becky Hamm and her husband, Phil,
Brandy Johansson and her husband, Olof, Stacy Martin and her husband,
Jason, Rachel Giampietro and her husband, Brian, Kerri Lighthall and her
husband, Mat, Stephanie Foster and her companion, Chad, Kristen Suvie,
Angela Meffley and her husband, Gregg, and Jennifer Suvie; 1 grandson, Sena
Suvie; 8 great-grandchildren, Brittney, Zackery, Bradley, Aaron, Joey,
Hunter, Mariah and Avery; sister, Frances Schugmann of Encinitas, CA;
siser-in-law, Beverly Mulcahy of Baltimore, MD; and many nephews, nieces
and cousins. |
