Steve Lester Hardin Obituary. Posted by findagrave.com. Steve Lester Hardin, 69, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on April 29, 2020. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Blake Hardin; son, Blake Hardin (Holly Harrison) of Ft. Lauderdale; daughter, Stephanie Limon (Ross) of Parkland; son, Matthew Hardin, of Jacksonville; son, Randy Hardin (Sarah) of Jacksonville, and granddaughter, Charlotte Rose; sister Judy Hardin and brother Ronnie Hardin both of Boynton Beach, along with many devoted in-laws, nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruby Hardin and Brother Larry Hardin of Boynton Beach, Florida. Steve was born and raised in Boynton Beach, Florida, and his love for football began at an early age. He graduated from Seacrest High School and went on to play football at FSU. His five decade football coaching career began as an assistant at his alma mater, Atlantic High School (formerly Seacrest High School). He then coached as a graduate assistant under Coach Bobby Bowden at FSU. Steve then was offered the Head Football position back at Atlantic High School. Steve became the Head Coach at Tallahassee Lincoln High School for ten years. He was the head coach at Springfield Rutherford High School in Panama City for fourteen years. He was an assistant coach at The Bolles in Jacksonville and Offensive Coordinator at St. Augustine High School. Coach had many accomplishments during his career. More than half of his wins were at Rutherford in Bay County where he had a 122-43 record in his 14 year stent during which sons Blake and Matthew quarterbacked and played for state championships. His third son Randy quarterbacked at Rutherford and then finished at The Bolles where Steve was Assistant Coach. All three of his sons were recognized as "Top 20" in passing yardage as they quarterbacked for their dad. His daughter, Stephanie, was his biggest cheerleader. Steve was recognized in the state hall of fame in 2008 for his tremendous success and mark on the sport of football in the state of Florida. His professional success was immeasurable as was the influence he had on hundreds of players, many of whom credit "Coach" to their collegiate success, professional career paths and overall lessons in life. Coach was blessed to host a Football Camp on Sundays after Church and work with wonderful young men over the past fifteen years. Despite many professional accolades, it was his family
for which Steve was most proud of. His loving wife, children and
granddaughter brought him immense joy and pride. |
