Ronald O. Hambrock, 74, of Terre Haute died Tuesday Oct. 2, 2007 in Morgan County Hospital. He was retired from the U.S. Government. He was born Nov. 13, 1932 in Terre Haute to Oscar Hambrock and Erna Hambrock.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Jarrett Hambrock; a son, Michael Hambrock and his wife Kim of Terre Haute; a daughter, Kathy Pickrell and her husband Steve of Monrovia; two grandchildren, Logan and Lauren Hambrock of Terre Haute; a brother, Richard Hambrock of Fort Wayne; two sisters, Ernalou Hall of Lafayette and Lois Hambrock of Valparaiso. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Kenneth, Norman, Howard, Lester and Milton Hambrock and one sister, Evaline Hambrock.

He graduated from Gerstmeyer High School, attended Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Florida State University and graduated from Indiana State University. After retiring from the U.S. Government, he was a licensed real estate agent and later worked with Dr. James Holscher at the Airport Veterinary Clinic. As a teenager he was introduced to the sport of volleyball at the YMCA, where he was later asked to play on a nationally ranked men's volleyball team. While playing in a national tournament on the east coast he was offered a scholarship to play volleyball at Florida State University where he was a two-time collegiate All-American in 1951 and 1952. In 1952 he became Florida State's all-time record holder in four categories. He served in the Navy in the Korean War and was stationed on the U.S.S. Leyte.

He enjoyed classical music, and had played in various youth symphonies. He was one the founding members of the Spay-Neuter League. He had attended Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
