Journal on January 10, 2008. William Lefoy "Bill" Arthur, age 81, of
Union, SC, died Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at Oakmont of Union.
Born in
Union, SC, on December 19, 1926, the son of Morris Lefoy Arthur (1893-1977)
and Dovie Lanette "Nettie" Bates Arthur (1895-1965); husband of Mary
Crocker Arthur (1927-2012).
A graduate of Union High School class of
1945, Spartanburg Junior College class of 1948, Florida State University
class of 1955, retired from the U.S. Forestry Service having worked from
1953 until 1987, a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean
Conflict, a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, a member of the
choir, a former Sunday School teacher, and for over 40 years, served as a
Boy Scout Leader of Troop #48 at Bethel United Methodist Church.
Other
survivors include a son, William Earl Sprouse; sisters, Sara Frances Arthur
(1923-2009), Betty Arthur McNeace (1928-2022) and husband, Albert, and
Joyce Ann Arthur Parsons (1934-2017); brother, Wilson Doil Arthur
(1920-2009) and wife, Maria; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Also
predeceased by sisters, Erin Virginia Arthur Robertson (1915-1996) and
Zanoma "Zee" Arthur Davis (1919-2006); and brother, James Morris Arthur
(1917-1996).
