David Y. Hulse Sr., 67, a retired business executive, died Thursday, September 16, 2004. A native of Hannibal, Mo., he had made Tampa his home since 1964. A 1959 graduate of Florida State University, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity while at FSU. Upon graduation, he was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He was a B-47 pilot and was honorably discharged as a captain after five years of service. He was a former member of the board of directors of the Southern Scholarship Foundation and the FSU Alumni Association. He was also a former member of the Exchange Club, the University Club, Seminole Boosters, Merrymakers Club, Tampa Yacht and Country Club and Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla. He is survived by two sons, David Y. Hulse Jr. and wife Jean of Tallahassee, and James E. Hulse and wife Jenny of Charlotte, N.C.; two grandchildren, Matthew W. Hulse and Lane T. Hulse, both of Tallahassee; and his former wife, Lora W. Hulse of Tampa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward H. and Helen Y. Hulse; and a brother, John E. Hulse.
