Michael A. Guerra, 77, of Pensacola went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 13, 2014. He suffered a lengthy bout with Alzheimer's Disease.

Mike was a native of Tampa, FL and attended schools there and in Sarasota, FL where his father was a businessman. He graduated from Sarasota High School in 1955 and Florida State University in 1960.

He then entered Naval Flight School in Pensacola and was assigned to enter the intelligence career field, he studied the Japanese language and was assigned with Naval Intelligence in Yokosuka, Japan.

Following that assignment, he returned to civilian life in Pensacola. Mike continued service in the Naval Reserve while pursuing several business interests in Pensacola with his wife June, including ownership of the Jubilee Restaurant and Capt'n Fun Bar on Pensacola Beach. He was also an early co-developer and builder of condominiums and homes on Pensacola Beach was well as in Pensacola. He invested in several real estate projects including Tanglewood Gardens Mobile Home Park in Pensacola. After having served as a Squadron Commander, Mike retired from the Naval Reserve as a Lieutenant Commander.

Mike was a life-long avid hunter and fisherman. He hunted big game in Japan, and all over the Eastern United States. He was an expert rifle, shotgun, bow marksman and skeet shooter. He represented his Naval units in several shooting tournaments. He was also well known as a deep sea fisherman in the Gulf Coast area.

Mike was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, NRA, Rotary and Optimist Clubs.

Mike was preceded in death by his father and mother, Frederick Albert and Manuella Lozano Guerra of Sarasota, FL.

Mike is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, June Baird Guerra; his son, Mark Guerra (Kelli) and granddaughter Tiffany all of Sneads, FL; sister, Marlene Hammer (Laurie) of Delray, FL; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Baird Charters; brother-in-law, Dean Baird of Pensacola, FL; sister-in-law, Judy Baird Roberts (Platt) of Tallahassee, FL; sister-in-law, Maxi Roberts Baird; nieces and nephews, Deana Baird Johnson (Kent) of Tallahassee, FL, Kattie Baird, F. A. Tripp Baird, III (Jen) of Washington, DC, Suzanne Baird, Kevin Hammer (Karen)of Delray Beach, FL and Julie Hammer Marcello (Judd) of London, England.
