Boise, Idaho on Mar 10, 2016, page C8. Richard (Dick) Gates Huff, Jr. of
Marana, Arizona passed away on February 16, 2016. Born January 5, 1937 in
Homestead, Florida, Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Alice Huff
and Richard Gates Huff, Sr.; his brother, Bob Huff; and his son, Richard
Gates Huff, III. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Gloria
Huff, and children, Mark Huff of Nashville, TN, Camilla J. Cash of Utah,
Carol Colin of Shelton, WA, Rob Huff of Eagle, ID, Debra Rose and Ralph
Agretto of Tucson, Arizona and seven grandchildren.
He attended Florida
State University from 1954-1957 on a golf scholarship and was a member of
the Seminole Golf Team. He was a member of the Professional Golfers
Association for over 53 years, and worked as a club professional his entire
adult life. He was a co-owner of Eagle Hills Golf Course during the
seventies before moving to Las Vegas; and retired in 2004 as the General
Manager of the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort. He was recognized by his peers
as the 1974 Golf Professional of the Year in the Rocky Mountain Section PGA
as well as the 1990 Teacher of the Year in the Southwest Section PGA.
One of the great privileges in his life was to be able to impart his
knowledge of the game to golfers of all skill levels. During his career, he
assisted seve3ral players in becoming winners on the PGA tour and State
Golf Associations. Most notable were Robert Gamez, a 3-time winner on the
PGA Tour, and Todd Fischer, a winner on the Nationwide Tour. His son, Rob
Huff of Eagle, competed on the European PGA Tour for 3 years and won
numerous amateur golf titles including the Idaho State Amateur
Championship.
