The head coach of Florida State's cross country teams beginning in 2000, Bob Braman took over as head coach of the perennially powerful track and field programs as well in 2004 and over his 24-year tenure, elevated the Seminoles to elite status.

Braman led men's teams to NCAA Outdoor National Championships in 2006 and 2008, and he was voted USTFCCCA National Coach of the Year in 2006, 2007 and 2008. He led 30 teams to NCAA Top 10 finishes.

FSU won 35 team ACC Championships under Braman, and he was voted ACC Coach of the Year 34 times.

Two Seminole athletes, triple-jumper Ngoni Makusha and hurdler Trey Cunningham, won Bowerman trophies under Braman. He coached 25 NCAA National Champions at FSU (19 men and 6 women) and 187 All-Americans (100 men and 87 women) over his career. 49 Seminoles (27 men and 22 women) became Olympians.

Before FSU, Braman enjoyed 17 years of success at USF where he began his career as the men's cross country assistant in 1983, was promoted to head coach in 1985 and launched the women's program in 1986. He was named USF's first track & field coach in 1991.
