Consistency and reliablity were the marks of Mike Conley's career as an FSU runner. From 1956 to 1958, he was one of the South's most outstanding performers in the mile and two-mile events. He was
undefeated in the mile in dual-meet competition as both a junior and senior. He also anchored Seminole teams in both the mile and sprint medley relays. Co-Captain of the 1958 Seminoles during his
senior year, Conley's performance was inspirational to teammates and fans alike. In the 1958 Meet of Champions in Houston, Texas, Conley ran a 4:05.7 mile, a time that remained unbeaten at Florida
State for 16 years. He would later become the principal of Leon High School in Tallahassee.
