Dave Hart served as Director of Athletics from the 1994-95 season through 2006-07 and is considered one of the finest administrators to have served in intercollegiate athletics. Hart is credited
with leading Florida State to unprecedented success over his tenure, which included expansive improvement in all aspects of the program. Under his leadership, the Seminoles won National Championships
in football (1999) and two in men's track and field, along with 33 ACC Championships. He elevated FSU programs to perennial rankings among the nation's Top 25 most successful.
Hart took the
leadership role in the athletics department's first-ever major Capital Campaign, in concert with Seminole Boosters, which raised over $75 million for athletics facilities and endowed athletics
scholarships for all sports at Florida State. Hart worked closely with Seminole Boosters, Inc. to double the athletic budget over his tenure, as well as planning and guiding the development and
implementation of an extensive and comprehensive facilities master plan for athletics.
He initiated a multi-faceted Student Development and Life Skills program for all student-athletes at FSU,
which was recognized nationally as a "Program of Excellence" by the Division 1-A Athletics Directors' Association and became a model nationally.
