Katrina Young is the first female diver elected to the FSU Athletics Hall of Fame. A two-time Olympian, the Shoreline, Wash. native began diving at the age of 9 after first participating in
gymnastics. Her talent quickly led her to compete at the national and international levels while still a junior athlete. Young had immediate success at FSU, earning All-ACC honors as a freshman in 2011. She would go on to make the All-ACC team in each of her four competitive seasons with FSU. Young earned her first All-America honor as a sophomore, placing fourth on the platform at the NCAA Championships in 2012. She became a two-time All-American on the one-meter board as a senior. Young, who did not compete in 2013 due to an injury, was a three-time ACC Champion. She won the platform at the ACC in 2012 and 2014, and the one-meter a senior in 2015. Following her success at FSU, Young earned a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team in the 10-meter platform event for the 2016
Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. She earned a second Olympic berth for the Tokyo Games in 2020. She won numerous international honors, including the silver medal in synchronized platform diving at the
2022 World Aquatics Championships. |
