Kyleene Filimaua and Iane Henke Earn Second Team All-ACC Honors.

December 1, 2025

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State outside hitters Kyleene Filimaua and Iane Henke picked up Second Team All-ACC honors on Monday evening. This marks the 19th-consecutive season that FSU has put multiple players on the All-ACC Teams.

Both Filimaua and Henke had great seasons for the Seminoles and will go down as a couple of the top players in school history. Filimaua and Henke were the top scoring duo in the ACC and became the first duo in school history to record 25 or more kills in a match during the rally scoring era on Oct. 18 against Cal.

Henke, a senior from Ulm, Germany, finished third all-time in FSU history in kills per set (4.43) and second all-time in FSU history in points per set (5.10). Those marks were also fourth in the ACC. Henke ended the season with with 425 kills, even after missing five matches during the middle of the season. Henke had a couple of the top individual performances in FSU history at some points during this season. In the four matches against North Florida, USF, South Carolina and Oklahoma, Henke tallied 15 or more kills in all four of those matches while hitting over .300 in all those matches. Henke is the first FSU player since Norisha Campbell in 2001 to accomplish that feat. Henke recorded 20 or more kills in four consecutive matches against Clemson, Georgia Tech, Cal and Virginia. Henke is the first player in program history to have 20 or more kills in four consecutive matches in the rally scoring era. Henke was also drafted by the Orlando Valkyries 24th overall in the MLV Draft.

Filimaua also put together one of the more productive seasons in school history. Filimaua posted 443 kills which is the eighth most in FSU history during the rally scoring era and her 4.35 points per set ranks ninth in school history. Her 443 kills is the most by a Seminole since Payton Caffrey in 2019. Filimaua did a little bit of everything as she recorded 13 double doubles and led the team with 42 aces. She also recorded 270 digs which was the second-most on the team.

Noles Record 16 Aces in Season Opening Sweep Against UIC.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Florida State volleyball team (1-0) used some phenomenal serving to take down UIC (0-1) in three sets (25-19, 25-19, 25-11) in the season opener on Friday afternoon in Jacksonville, Fla.

The Seminoles tallied 16 total service aces which is the most since October 28, 2022, when the Seminoles had 16 aces at Syracuse. Iane Henke recorded seven aces in the match which was tied for the fourth-most in school history and is just the second player in the last 20 years to have seven or more aces.

The Noles got off to a good start in set one as they jumped out to a 4-1 lead. UIC battled back to tie the set at seven, but Henke took over the set as she served six straight points which included four aces and a kill to put the Noles up 14-7. The Flames got into striking distance by cutting the lead to three at 14-11, but FSU went on a 8-1 run to pull away from the Flames and take set one.

Set two nearly followed the same path as the first set as the Noles jumped out to a 5-0 lead thanks to a couple of key blocks from freshman Nenu Kpea and sophomore Johanna Sova. The teams traded points, but a couple of big kills from Kyleene Filimaua gave the Noles a 14-10 lead. The Flames cut the lead to two, but FSU took advantage of some errors from UIC to be the first team to 20 once again. Henke picked up her fifth ace of the match, and a block from Filimaua and a kill from Lexie Mason put the Noles in control to take a 2-0 lead.

FSU continued to apply pressure from the service line in the third set as Filimaua served three consecutive aces then Mio Yamamoto served three more aces to put the Noles up 10-1 early in the third set. The Flames slowly started to climb back into the set, but a service error and Henke's seventh ace of the match slowed the momentum. Freshman Payton Whalen and sophomore Delaney Ewing took over the match and scored six consecutive points for the Noles, and they never looked back as FSU ended the match on a 9-0 run to take the final set 25-11.

Henke led the way with nine kills to go along with her seven aces. Filimaua also had a good match with eight kills and added a career high five aces of her own. Nenu Kpea had a great match defensively with a game high eight blocks. Yamamoto led the team with nine digs.

Filimaua Has Career Night, But Noles Fall in Five.

TAMPA, Fla. - Kyleene Filimaua had a career high 22 kills, but it was not enough as the Florida State volleyball team (2-1) fell to USF (1-3) in five sets (22-25, 17-25, 25-20, 27-25, 12-15) on Friday night at the Yuengling Center.

USF jumped out to an early lead in set, but the Noles continued to scratch and claw to cut the lead to two at 16-14. The Bulls extended their lead to four at 22-17, but the Noles were not done as they rattled off four consecutive points to cut the lead to one thanks to a couple of kills from Iane Henke. The Bulls responded and were able to score three out of the final four points of the set to take the first.

The Noles were unable to get any rhythm in the second set as the Bulls cruised to a 25-17 victory to go up 2-0.

The Noles were able to get going in the third set,, but the Bulls were able to match them through the first half of the set. The Noles held a slight 19-18 lead, but they took four out of the next five points and went on to win the set 25-20.

The teams traded runs in the first half of the fourth set as the two teams were tied at 15. Neither team was able to get any separation as the match stayed within two points for the remainder of the set. The Bulls had match point at 24-23, but a huge block from Kelsey Perry and an ace by Filimaua gave the Noles their first set point. The Bulls were able to tie it up, but back-to-back errors from USF forced a fifth set.

The Noles took control of the fifth set early on and were the first team to 10 with a 10-7 lead. USF rattled off five of the next six points to take the lead, and the Noles were unable to overcome the surge to suffer their first loss of the season.

Filimaua led all players with 22 kills on 54 attacks. Henke added 16 kills while Nenu Kpea added 10 kills for her first double digit kill match of the year. Mio Yamamoto led the Noles with 16 digs.

Noles Dominate South Carolina in Sweep.

TAMPA, Fla. - The Florida State volleyball team (3-1) bounced back with a sweep (26-24, 25-15, 25-16) over South Carolina (3-2) on Saturday afternoon in Tampa.

The teams both got off to hot starts, but the Noles were able to pull away and take a 15-11 lead. The Gamecocks stormed back with a 9-1 run, but back-to-back kills from Nenu Kpea and Kyleene Filimaua pulled the Noles within one at 20-19. The Noles got a huge block from Filimaua and Delaney Ewing to tie the match at 21 then an ace from Caylan Russ gave the Noles the lead. A service error opened the door for the Gamecocks, and they reached set point first at 24-23, but kills from Payton Whalen and Iane Henke gave the Noles a set point of their own. FSU put an emphatic ending to the set as Whalen and Ewing teamed up for the block to end the set.

It was all Noles in set two as they jumped out to a 10-3 lead and never looked back as they cruised to a 25-15 set win. The Noles hit .379 and had just two attack errors in the set.

The Gamecocks got the first point of set three, but that was the final lead they would see as the Noles went on to dominate the third set to clinch the sweep. The Noles hit .394 in set three and ended the match with a season-high .340 hitting percentage while holding the Gamecocks to just a .098 hitting percentage.

Henke was phenomenal as she tallied 15 kills on 33 attempts for a .424 hitting percentage. Henke's .424 hitting percentage is her career high with the Seminoles when she's recorded at least 20 attempts. Henke also tallied 10 digs for her first double double of her Florida State career. Kpea continued her strong start to her freshman campaign with seven kills to go along with four blocks. Ewing tied her career high with six blocks of her own to go along with four kills.

Noles' Comeback Falls Short at Oklahoma.

NORMAN, Okla. - The Florida State volleyball team (3-2) battled back from two sets down to force a fifth set but came up just short in a 3-2 (16-25, 23-25, 25-15, 25-8, 13-15) loss to Oklahoma (5-1) in the ACC/SEC Showdown at the Net on Wednesday night in Norman, Oklahoma.

FSU was unable to get much going in the first set as the Sooners rolled to a 25-16 first set victory. Oklahoma looked to be cruising to another set victory in set two, but the Noles fought off five set points to gain some momentum into set three but ultimately fell 25-23.

FSU used that momentum and jumped all over the Sooners in set three. FSU was the first to 15 as it led 15-8, but the Sooners had one more rally in them to cut the lead to 17-14. The Noles quickly shut the door and ended the set on a 8-1 run. After hitting just .136 and allowing the Sooners to hit .424 in the first two sets, FSU hit .333 in set three and held Oklahoma to .000 hitting percentage and blocked the Sooners four times.

The Noles dominated set four in impressive fashion as they cruised to a 25-8 victory after leading 17-2 at one point. The Noles hit .286 in set four and had four service aces in the set.

The Sooners jumped out to an early lead in set five as they lead 6-3, but the Noles hung around and kill from Kyleene Filimaua and a block from Johanna Sova tied the set at nine. The teams continued to trade points, but an ace gave the Sooners match point at 14-12. A service error gave a point to the Noles, but an attack error ended the match.

Iane Henke continued to impress as she recorded her fourth straight match with 15 or more kills as she tallied 18 kills and hit .333. Filimaua added 15 kills of her own. Delaney Ewing led the way with seven blocks for the Noles.

Noles Fall at Auburn.

AUBURN, Ala. - The Florida State volleyball team (3-3) fell in three sets (21-25, 23-25, 20-25) on Friday night at Auburn (6-1) in Neville Arena.

The two teams were competitive in the first part of the opening set as neither team was able to separate by more than three points until Auburn went on 5-0 run to take a 20-16 lead. A couple of kills from Iane Henke and a couple of errors from the Tigers allowed the Noles back into the set as they cut it to one at 22-21, but Auburn scored the final three points to take the first set.

The Noles got off to a great start in set two and led throughout the first part of the set holding a 15-13 lead. The Tigers used another fierce run to take a 20-17 lead, but the Noles were not done as they clawed back to tie the set at 21-21 thanks to back-to-back kills from Henke. The teams traded points to tie the set at 23, but Auburn prevailed in the final two points to take the set.

The Noles once again got off to a good start in set three as they were once again the first team to 15, but Auburn immediately responded with a 5-0 run to separate itself. The Noles got within two at 20-18 thanks to a kill from Kyleene Filimaua, but that was as close as they would come as they'd drop the final set 25-20.

Henke once again led the way for the Noles with 15 kills. Henke has now had at least 15 kills in her last five matches which is the longest streak by a FSU player since Payton Caffrey had six consecutive matches of 15 or more kills in 2018. Filimaua added 12 kills for her fourth double digit kill match in the last five matches. Mio Yamamoto led the way defensively with 10 digs.

Noles Take Down Auburn in Home Opener.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State volleyball team (4-3) won in four sets (21-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-14) on Sunday versus Auburn (6-2) in the home opener in front of a capacity crowd at Tully Gym. The Noles snapped Auburn's six-match winning streak, and it was FSU's first win over Auburn since 2017.

In the first set, the Noles would battle back from a 12-point deficit to cut the lead to three and gain some momentum, but the Noles fell 25-21.

The Noles battled back from a tough first set and jumped out to a 15-9 lead in set two. The Tigers closed the gap to 20-17 off a pair of Nole errors and a kill, but the Noles finished on a 5-1 run to tie the match.

The third set started in a battle with the Noles and Tigers trading back and forth points. The Noles would go on to charge forward to a 15-9 lead after a pair of kills from Nenu Kepu. The Tigers would make a comeback to take an 18-17 lead. The teams would continue to battle, but with the set tied at 22, Kyleene Filimaua recorded a clutch kill, and Delaney Ewing and Payton Whalen teamed up for the block to give the Noles set point. Iane Henke put down an overpass to take the set.

The fourth set was all Noles as they dominated from start to finish, never surrendering the lead and cruising to a 25-14 win to secure the match.

Henke led the Noles with a Nole career high 19 kills. Henke has now had at least 15 kills in her last six matches, Filimaua added 16 kills, her fifth double digit kill match in a row. Nenu Kepu had her best match of her young career as she posted a season-high 11 kills and led the team in six blocks. Mio Yamamoto led the team in digs with 20.

Noles Sweep Georgia Southern in Non-Conference Finale.

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Florida State volleyball team (6-3) wrapped up non-conference play with a sweep (26-24, 25-17, 25-22) at Georgia Southern (9-2) on Saturday afternoon in Statesboro, Ga.

Set one was tight from start to finish, but the Eagles took advantage of some errors from the Seminoles to take a 13-9 lead. FSU stormed back with a stuff from Iane Henke and Delaney Ewing, and back-to-back aces tied up the set at 13. The teams traded points with neither team separating themselves until an ace from Georgia Southern gave them a two-point lead at 21-19. An error and a kill from Henke tied the set at 21. The Eagles scored the next two points for a 23-21 lead, but the Noles responded and scored five out of the final six points to take the opening set.

The Eagles jumped out to an early 9-6 lead in set two, but it was all Noles from that point on as the Noles went on a 13-3 run to take control of the set and cruise to a 25-17 victory.

The Noles had to work for the sweep as the teams traded points throughout the first half of the set. The Eagles took a 19-16 lead, but the Seminoles were not going to be denied as they rattled off six out of the next seven points to take a 22-20 lead. Georgia Southern tied it up at 22, but a kill from Filimaua and back-to-back kills from Henke gave the Noles the sweep.

Noles Hand Clemson Its First Loss in ACC Opener.

CLEMSON, S.C. - The Florida State volleyball team (7-3, 1-0) opened up ACC play with a bang as it handed Clemson (12-1,0-1) its first loss of the season with a four-set victory (25-20, 25-13, 21-25, 25-20) on Friday night in front of a capacity crowd at Jervey Gym in Clemson, S.C. FSU has now won 20 consecutive matches against the Tigers dating back to 2010.

Both teams got off to a good start offensively in set one, but the Noles made some key plays down the stretch to take the opening set 25-20. Neither team had a lead larger than two until the Noles got a kill from Iane Henke and an attack error to go up 18-15. The Tigers clawed back to get within one at 20-19, but the Noles ended the set on a 5-1 run to close out the set. The Noles hit .385, but tallied three blocks compared to Clemson's zero to separate themselves.

The Noles were dominant in the second set as they cruised to a 25-13 victory as the offense continued to roll with a .429 hitting percentage. Henke began to heat up as she recorded five kills in the set to lead the Noles.

The Tigers gained some momentum in the third set and were able to shut down the Noles' offense to take the third set 25-21.

The Tigers looked to have kept the momentum from the third set into set four as it jumped out to an 8-4 lead, but the Noles stormed back and used a 7-0 run to take a commanding 14-9 lead. The Noles never looked back as the Tigers never got within four as FSU secured the win with a 25-20 victory.

The dynamic duo of Henke and Kyleene Filimaua was phenomenal once again as Henke put down 20 kills which is a career-best for the senior in the Garnet and Gold. Filimaua added 17 kills on 37 attempts for a .432 hitting percentage. The Noles also got a career match from Lexie Mason who had a career-high eight kills for the Seminoles. Middle blockers Nenu Kpea and Delaney Ewing each had eight kills to go with eight combined blocks. Lily Nicholson added a season-best 29 assists and 15 digs for the Noles.

Iane Henke Has Career Match in Noles' Loss at Georgia Tech.

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Florida State volleyball team (7-4, 1-1) fell in three sets (19-25, 19-25, 23-25) to Georgia Tech (6-5, 1-1) on Sunday afternoon in Atlanta, Ga.

Iane Henke once again led the Noles as she had a career-high 21 kills on 46 attempts for FSU. Henke had 20 kills on Friday night against Clemson and is the first Seminole since Audrey Koenig in 2023 to have back-to-back 20+ kill matches.

Both teams got off to a good start offensively in set one, but the Yellow Jackets were able to stifle the Seminoles in the last half of the set as the Noles fell 25-19.

The Yellow Jackets once again controlled the last half of the set in set two to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

The Noles had their best set in the third as they were the first to 15 thanks to an ace from Caylan Russ. The Noles led 21-19 and looked to be in control, but the Yellow Jackets stormed back to take six out of the next eight points to take the match.

Freshmen Lead FSU in Five-Set Win at Wake Forest.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Florida State volleyball team (8-4, 2-1) pulled out a gritty five-set victory (22-25, 25-13, 25-22, 25-23, 15-25, 15-12) over Wake Forest (7-2, 1-2) on Friday night at Reynolds Gym in Winston-Salem, N.C. FSU has now won 19 consecutive matches against Wake Forest and 27 out of the last 28 meetings.

The Noles got off to a great in set one and jumped out to a 10-4 lead, but the Demon Deacons stormed back and took a 15-13 lead. Wake Forest kept the lead and took the first set 25-22.

The second set was all Seminoles as an 11-1 run fueled the Seminoles as they cruised to a 25-13 set two win. The Noles hit .400 with three blocks to dominate the set and tie the match.

The third set was a set of rallies as the Noles used a 5-1 run to take a 16-11 lead, but the Demon Deacons used a 5-0 run to tie the set at 19. The teams traded points but a kill from Victoria David a block from Kyleene Filimaua and Nenu Kpea gave the Noles a 23-21 lead. The Noles picked up another block to get to set point, and Payton Whalen tipped one over to end the set.

Wake Forest dominated the fourth set as it ran away with the set in a 25-15 win to force a fifth set.

The Noles quickly shifted the momentum back to their side in the fifth set from the very first point as libero Mio Yamamoto made a terrific dig to keep the point alive to give the Noles the first point. The Noles raced out to an 8-2 lead thanks to three blocks and couple of kills from David and Whalen. Wake Forest would not go away quietly as it fought back to cut the lead to two at 14-12 on a controversial two-hit call. Kpea quickly put the first ball away, but the officials let the rally play on but ultimately consulted that the ball was down to give the Noles the win.

With the Noles' kill leader Iane Henke unavailable, the Noles got great production from the freshman trio of Lexie Mason, Victoria David and Nenu Kpea. Mason had a career-high 13 kills on 29 attempts while David tallied 10 kills in her first career start. Kpea added 10 kills on 22 swings to go along with a career-best nine blocks. Lily Nicholson picked up another double double with 26 assists and 10 digs for the Noles. Filimaua also had a double double with 10 kills, 13 digs and a career-high six blocks.

Noles Fall in Five Sets at NC State.

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Florida State volleyball team (8-5, 2-2) fell to NC State (8-6, 1-3) in five sets (25-14, 23-25, 25-22, 23-25, 9-15) on Sunday afternoon in Raleigh.

After a back-and-forth start to set one, the Noles quickly jumped all over the Wolfpack thanks to an efficient offense and a very scrappy defense. The Noles took the first set 25-14 as they hit .343 while holding the Wolfpack to just a .049 hitting percentage.

Set two was tight from start to finish, but ultimately, the Wolfpack pulled out a 25-23 victory to tie the match.

The Noles jumped out to an early 10-5 lead in set three while holding the Wolfpack to a negative hitting percentage, but the Wolfpack were able to cut the Seminoles' lead to one at 13-12. The Noles continued to hold the lead until NC State pulled ahead at 20-19. The Noles tied the set at 21 and three-consecutive errors from the Wolfpack gave the Noles set point, Kyleene Filimaua hammered a kill to give the Noles the set.

FSU rolled that momentum over to the fourth set and took a commanding 18-12 lead. NC State was able to storm back to take 19-18 lead and eventually took the set 25-23 to force a fifth set.

The Noles were unable to get anything going in the fifth as the Wolfpack took the deciding set 15-9 to take the match.

Filimaua led the way with another double double with 20 kills and 10 digs. Middle blockers Nenu Kpea and Delaney Ewing each added 10 kills.

Filimaua Has Career Night in Loss to No. 10 SMU.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State volleyball team (8-6, 2-3) fell to No. 10 SMU (11-4, 3-2) in four sets (26-24, 23-25, 15-25, 20-25) in its return to Tully Gym for the first time since September 15th, on Friday evening.

The Mustangs got out to an early 7-2 lead, but the Noles continued to claw their way back and eventually took the lead at 15-14. The teams traded points until the Noles then went on a 4-0 scoring run to take a 22-19 lead. The Noles were looking to close out the set with ease, but SMU fought off three set points to tie the set at 24. A service error from the Mustangs and a clutch kill from Delaney Ewing gave the Noles the first set 26-24. Kyleene Filimaua led the first set in kills with six total.

The second set began with the Noles and Mustangs trading points back and forth. Never once surrendering their lead to the Mustangs, the Noles went on a 3-0 scoring run to be the first to 15. The Mustangs used a 7-2 run to take the lead, but the Noles were able to tie the set at 23. SMU ultimately prevailed to take the lead in the set.

SMU jumped out to an early lead in set three, and reached 15 first, making the score 15-11 and ultimately ran away with the set in a 25-15 victory.

Set four began with the Noles falling behind early and SMU taking a five-point lead. The Noles went on a 4-0 scoring run to cut their deficit to five and continued to battle through the set but fell to the Mustangs 25-20.

Despite losing the match, Kyleene Filimaua had a career night of 25 kills, leading the team for the evening, while also recording 14 digs and three blocks. Mio Yamamoto led the team once again with 18 digs.

Noles Fall to No. 4 Pitt.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State volleyball team (8-7, 2-4) fell to No. 4 Pitt (13-3, 5-1) in three sets (14-25, 19-25, 21-25) on Sunday afternoon in front of a capacity crowd at Tully Gym.

The Panthers got off to a hot start in set one and led from start to finish to take the opening set. One bright spot for the Noles was Kyleene Filimaua who continued her hot play with five kills in the opening set.

Set two was much more competitive as the Noles found some rhythm on offense. Pitt was able to extend its lead to 14-9, but the Noles rallied back with a 5-1 run to cut the lead to one. The Noles continued to hang within striking distance, but the Panthers pulled away late to take the set 25-19.

Set three was very competitive as the Noles defense was able to keep the Panthers' offense in check as the teams were tied at 18 all. Pitt stormed to the finish winning seven of the final 10 points to complete the sweep.

Filimaua led the way with 11 kills for the Noles for her fourth consecutive match in double figures.

Florida State Falls in Four at No. 5 Stanford.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State volleyball team (8-8, 2-5) fell to No. 5 Stanford (15-3, 6-1) in four sets (14-25, 13-25, 25-22, 13-25) on Thursday night at Maples Pavilion in Stanford, California.

The Cardinal got out to an early 9-3 lead in the first set and didn't look back. Victoria David got the Noles going offensively, finishing the set with three kills.

Stanford had a similar set two, jumping out to a double-digit lead early. The Noles pulled within seven, but Stanford went on a 6-1 run to close out the set.

The Noles dominated the beginning of set three. FSU started the set up 5-0, which was later extended to a 15-5 lead. Stanford closed the gap 21-21 late down the stretch, until back-to-back Cardinal attack errors put the Noles up two. Kyleene Filimaua got the kill on set point after an FSU challenge reversed the no-touch call on Stanford. Filimaua led the way with five kills for the Seminoles in the set.

FSU began the fourth set down 5-14, and then went on a 4-0 run to bridge the gap to five. The Cardinal pulled away, outscoring FSU 11-4 to win the match.

Filimaua led the way with 11 kills for the Noles, followed by David with 9.

Henke Shines in Return; Noles Defeat Cal in Five.

BERKLEY, Calif. - The Florida State volleyball team (9-8, 3-5) defeated Cal (6-12, 3-5) in five sets (22-25, 25-15, 25-20, 22-25, 16-14) on Saturday night at Haas Pavilion in Berkley, California.

In a closely contested first set, the Noles jumped out to an early 14-10 lead. Cal chipped away as the set went on, tying it up at 21. The Golden Bears would go on a 4-1 run to take the opening set. Kyleene Filimaua led the Noles offensively with seven kills in the set.

FSU scored five quick points in the second set and didn't look back. The Noles would go on a 13-5 run in the set, leading to a 10-point 25-15 victory. Filimaua continued to be a force with her swing, finishing the first two sets with double-digit kills, while Iane Henke picked up right where she left off. Having not played since recording a career-high 21 kills against Georgia Tech, Henke also found herself with double-digit kills heading into the third.

Henke and Filimaua combined for 10 kills in the third set. The Seminoles dominated the Golden Bears on the net, recording three consecutive blocks to take a 20-17 lead. The Noles would go on to win the set 25-20.

Cal took advantage of a slow start in the fourth set, grabbing a 15-9 lead. The Noles pulled within three late in the set, but the Golden Bears would go on to extend the match to a fifth set.

The fifth set consisted of different swings of momentum with Cal holding an early 6-3 lead. FSU fought back to get within one, and back-to-back Filiamaua kills gave the Noles their first lead of the set. The set would later be tied at 13, before Filimaua would close the door with her 25th kill of the evening to win the match for FSU.

Henke finished the match with a career-high 27 kills, which led all players. Filimaua tied a career-high of 25 kills. The pair was responsible for 59.5 total points scored for the Seminoles.

Seminoles Rally to Defeat Virginia in Four Sets.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State volleyball team (10-8, 4-5) returned to the friendly confines of Tully Gym and defeated Virginia (10-8, 3-6) in four sets (21-25, 25-19, 25-14) on Friday night.

The Noles had its best offensive output since Sept. 28 as the Noles hit . 324 on the night led by Iane Henke and Kyleene Filimaua. Henke had 21 kills while hitting .297 and Filimaua had 19 kills while hitting .378. Both Henke and Filimaua recorded double-digit digs to earn double doubles for the Noles. Henke has now recorded 20 or more kills in her last four matches.

The Cavaliers were the ones to get off to a hot start as they led from start to finish to take the first set 25-19.

The Noles responded in a big way thanks to a phenomenal performance behind the service line. The Noles jumped out to a 14-9 lead, but the Cavaliers climbed back to cut the lead to two at 18-16. The teams traded points until Mio Yamamoto recorded three-consecutive aces to end the set and tie the match. Yamamoto had four aces in the set while Nellie Stevenson added one.

It was the Garnet and Gold from start to finish in set three as they took the set 25-14. The red-hot Noles hit .500 in the set including six kills from both Henke and Filimaua.

Set four was the tightest of them all. The Noles got a little separation at 11-8 thanks to a pair of kills from Filimaua and Lexie Mason. Virginia would not go away though as they eventually were the first team to 20 at 20-19. The Noles got a couple of kills from Lily Nicholson and Henke to take a 22-21 lead, and Yamamoto recorded her sixth ace of the match in a clutch moment to put the Noles up two. Yamamoto continued to apply the service pressure as her serve forced a bad set from the Cavaliers and an overpass on set point that Henke put down to give the Noles the match.

Yamamoto's six aces were a career high and was tied for the third-most by any Seminole against an ACC opponent.

Noles Sweep Virginia Tech for Third-Consecutive Victory.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State volleyball team (11-8, 5-5 ACC) defeated Virginia Tech (9-12, 1-9 ACC) in three-straight sets (25-24, 25-12, 25-21) on Sunday, Oct. 26 in Tully Gymnasium.

The Seminoles have won the past three conference matchups, evening their record at 5-5 in ACC play. They have won 13 consecutive matches against the Hokies and remain unbeaten by them at home, improving their record against VT to 40-4 all-time.

After a heated first set that saw the team overcome an early deficit and fend off a Hokie comeback, the Seminoles found their momentum and cruised through the second frame. VT was not eager to go down easily and put up a late-game fight in the third set, but FSU matched their resolve and rallied to the end.

Senior outside hitter Iane Henke hit a season-best .469 and led the offense with 16 kills. Junior outside hitter Kyleene Filimaua added 10 kills as well as a team-high four service aces. Senior setter Nellie Stevenson recorded a team-leading 12 digs while senior libero Mio Yamamoto posted 11.

The first set started off hot as both teams traded points, but the Hokies would eventually find a groove and force the Seminoles to battle from a 6-11 deficit. Timely kills from Filimaua and multiple service errors from the opposition allowed FSU to tie it 13-13 and work ahead.

Attack errors proved costly as VT wrestled the lead back late, but a surge of kills from Henke sealed the aggressive first set 25-23 for the Seminoles.

Set two began with back-to-back service aces from Filimaua as the Seminoles continued to capitalize on errors from Virginia Tech. Dynamic digs from Yamamoto kept rallies alive as Florida State scored six straight points to gain a 10-2 lead.

Three more aces and stellar defense from Florida State saw Virginia Tech shut down offensively, posting just seven kills to FSU's 11. Filimaua and freshman opposite hitter Lexie Mason added three kills each while Henke led with four as the Seminoles routed the Hokies 25-12 in the second set.

Virginia Tech started the third set with newfound strength, forcing two more lead changes throughout the final frame. Despite the pressure, Florida State didn't let up. Filimaua and Mason contributed three kills each while Henke led the effort with five, including the set-winning shot. Freshman middle blocker Nenu Kpea put pressure on the Hokie attackers, recording a solo block and contributing to four of the six total blocks.

Florida State paced Virginia Tech 43-37 in kills and posted six blocks to the Hokies' five. The Seminoles registered 12 service aces, their second highest in a single game this season.

After trading scores to a 5-4 Syracuse lead in set one, the Noles scored five points in a row to take a 9-5 lead. After that run, the Noles maintained their lead to win the set 25-18. Filimaua and Mio Yamamoto each notched an ace during the set, and Filimaua led the Noles in kills with four of the team's 16. Defensively, the Noles held the Orange to a .057 hitting percentage.

The Orange controlled set two out of the gate, jumping to an early 4-1 lead. The Noles later tied the set at 10-10, setting off a five score run that placed them at a 14-10 advantage. The Orange tied the set at 15, but the Noles, powered in part by eight kills from Henke, churned out a 25-23 victory. The Noles hit .293 in their set two win.

The Orange won the third set 25-19, thwarting a late comeback attempt by the Noles that featured two more Henke kills.

The Noles returned to form in the fourth set, setting the tone early with seven straight scores to form an 8-2 lead. Henke, Nellie Stevenson, and Lily Nicholson each recorded aces as Florida State marched to a 25-14 victory. The Noles hit .583 in set four.

Seminoles' Win Streak Up to Five After Thrilling Win Over Boston College.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - It was all but easy for the Florida State volleyball team (13-8, 7-5), but the Seminoles came away with their fifth-straight win in a five-set victory (18-25, 25-20, 18-25, 25-14, 15-13) over Boston College (15-9, 4-8) on Sunday afternoon at Tully Gym. The Noles have never lost to the Eagles inside of Tully Gym and are 26-3 all-time against the Eagles.

The usual suspects of Iane Henke and Kyleene Filimaua carried the load as the two recorded 19 and 16 kills respectively, but the Noles got some surprise production from Payton Whalen who recorded a season-high 11 kills on 17 attempts to hit .529. Whalen hadn't recorded more than five kills all season. Nenu Kpea added nine kills while Delaney Ewing had eight kills and six big blocks. Mio Yamamoto led the way defensively with 20 digs.

The Eagles jumped all over the Noles in set one as they raced out to an 11-4, and the Noles never got closer than within five as the Eagles took the first set.

The Noles responded well and played much better in set two jumping out to a 7-3 lead., The Eagles clawed their way back to pull within one at 13-12, but the Noles used 6-1 run to distance themselves and take the set 25-20.

Set three started out as a back-and-forth affair as the teams were tied at 16 until Boston College went on a 9-2 run to end the set and take the lead in the match.

The Noles were not going to go down quietly though as they stormed out of the gate to a 10-3 lead in set four and never looked back as they sent the match to a fifth set with a 25-14 victory.

The Noles got the early advantage in set five as they raced out to a 10-3 lead. The Eagles stormed back to cut the lead to one at 13-12, but an attack error gave the Noles match point. The Noles got a great swing from Filimaua that forced an overpass, and Johanna Sova put it away to give the Noles the match.

Noles Come Up Just Short at No. 14 Miami.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The Florida State volleyball team (13-9, 7-6) gave No. 14 Miami (20-4, 10-3) all it could handle on Wednesday night, but the Noles ultimately fell short in a five-set thriller (25-22, 23-25, 21-25, 25-23, 15-10) in Coral Gables.

The Noles got off to a great start in set one as they jumped out to an 8-5 lead behind the arm of Kyleene Filimaua. The teams traded points and the Noles held the lead until the Canes got their first lead at 18-17. The teams traded points, but the Noles got back-to-back kills from Iane Henke and a kill from Payton Whalen to go up 23-20. Filimaua put down her seventh kill of the set to give the Noles the first set.

The Canes were the ones to get out to a quick start in set two as they took a 15-10 lead, but the Noles stormed back to take a 20-19 lead thanks to a kill from Nenu Kpea. Miami responded to take a 24-21 lead, but a service error and a kill from Henke pulled the Noles within one. FSU was unable to rally as Miami tied the match.

Set three was a back-and-forth affair for the first half before each team traded runs. Miami went on a 4-1 run to take a 12-11 lead. The Noles used a 4-0 run of their own to go up 20-17, but Miami ended the set on a 8-1 run to take a 2-1 lead in the match.

Neither team was able to get any separation in set four as the set saw 20 total ties between the two teams. After Miami took a 23-22 lead, the Noles got a huge block from Johanna Sova and Kpea and a couple of Miami hitting errors to take the set 25-23 and send the match to a fifth set.

FSU got off to a good start in set five taking a 6-4 lead. The match turned on its head as the Noles looked to go up 7-4 on a Hurricanes' hitting error in the fifth, but after a lengthy review, the call was overturned to give the Noles a 6-5 lead. Miami went on a quick 3-0 run to take the lead. The Noles were able to stop the momentum for a moment as the teams traded points, but Miami ended the match on 6-1 run to take the match.

The Noles' dynamic duo of Filimaua and Henke were terrific once again as each tallied 20 kills on the night. Defensively, the Noles tallied 13 blocks which was tied for the most FSU has had in any ACC match this season. Kpea and Delaney Ewing led the way with six blocks each.

Noles Fall in Five Sets to No. 14 Miami.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State volleyball team (13-10, 7-7) came up just short in a five-set loss (25-17, 15-25, 25-23, 16-25, 10-15) to No. 14 Miami (21-4, 11-3) on Saturday afternoon at Tully Gym.

The Noles came out on fire in front of the raucous crowd and dominated the set one in all facets. The Noles hit .269 while holding Miami to a -.077 hitting percentage led by four blocks in the set. The Noles used a 7-1 run to take a 20-12 lead and closed out the set 25-17.

The Hurricanes bounced back with a 25-15 win in set two tie up the match.

Miami looked to have carried the momentum into set three as it jumped out to a 15-7 lead, but the Noles went on a staggering 13-1 run behind some tough serving from Iane Henke and Caylan Russ to take a 20-16 lead. Miami cut the lead to one at 21-20, but the Noles never surrendered the lead and got some key kills from Iane Henke. With a one point lead at 24-23, the Tully crowd forced a service error to give the Noles the 2-1 advantage in the match.

Miami jumped out to a quick lead again in set four, but the Noles were unable to mount a comeback as they fell 25-16 to force a fifth set.

The Noles got off to a great start in the fifth set as they held an 8-4 lead as the teams switched sides. The Hurricanes stormed back and scored 11 out of the 13 points to clinch the match.

Henke and Kyleene Filimaua led the way with 19 kills each. Nellie Stevenson recorded a double double with 20 assists and 12 digs.

Seminoles Fall in Four at No. 7 Louisville.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Florida State volleyball team (13-11, 7-8) fell to No. 7 Louisville (21-4, 13-2) in four sets (20-25, 25-19, 19-25, 19-25) on Thursday night in Louisville.

The Seminoles got off to a great start in set one thanks to back-to-back aces from Kyleene Filimaua as the Noles took an early 4-0 lead. The Noles continued to play well in the first half of the set as they held a 15-12 lead at the media timeout. The Cardinals took the lead thanks to a 5-1 run, but the Noles traded points with the Cardinals to tie the match at 19. Louisville was able to pull away scoring six out of the next seven points to take the set.

The Noles once again got off to a 4-0 start in set two. The teams traded points in a back-and-forth affair, but it was the Noles this time who pulled away late with a 6-1 run to tie the match.

The Noles ran into a brick wall in sets three and four as they were unable to figure out Louisville's block as they ran away with sets three and four, both by a score of 25-19 to take the match.

Filimaua continued her strong play with her sixth 20-kill match of the season to lead all scorers. Iane Henke added 11 kills while Payton Whalen tallied seven kills. Filimaua was also one of two Seminoles to record a double-double as she recorded 11 digs while Lily Nicholson tallied 21 assists and a career-high 17 digs.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Florida State volleyball team (14-11, 8-8) got back into the win column on Sunday afternoon with a five-set win (25-19, 23-25, 25-19, 18-25, 15-12) over Notre Dame (9-15, 6-10) in South Bend, Ind.

It was the Kyleene Filimaua show as she did a little bit of everything for the Noles. Filimaua recorded 19 kills to go along with five aces, 13 digs and three blocks. Filimaua's five aces tied her career high. Filimaua also recorded her 11th double double of the season. Iane Henke continued her steady play as well with a double double of her own as she recorded 19 kills and 11 digs for the Garnet and Gold. Nenu Kpea had a great match on her birthday as the freshman tallied nine kills on 14 swings and recorded a career-best nine blocks. Lily Nicholson and Nellie Stevenson also recorded double doubles for the Garnet and Gold as Nicholson tallied 25 assists and 10 digs while Stevenson had 20 assists and 10 digs.

It was all Noles in set one as the Noles jumped out to an early lead and never looked back thanks to a 6-0 run that put them up 13-6. The Noles went on to win the set 25-19 after hitting .300 while holding Notre Dame to just a .091 hitting percentage.

Notre Dame found its spark in the second set and raced out to an 18-11 lead, but the Noles did not go down quietly as they went on 9-2 run to tie the match at 20 courtesy of an ace from Caylan Russ. The teams traded points, but ultimately, the Fighting Irish came out on top 25-23.

The Noles got right back to work in set three as they raced out to a 5-0 lead thanks to a couple of aces from Filimaua. The Noles never surrendered the lead to take a 2-1 lead in the match.

The roles were reversed in set four as the Fighting Irish controlled the set to send the match to a winner-take-all set five.

Notre Dame threw the first punch in set five taking a 4-2 lead, but the Noles responded with a 7-2 run to take a 9-6 lead. Notre Dame tied it back up at nine, but two big blocks from Payton Whalen and Johanna Sova gave the Noles a 11-9 lead. The teams traded points, and with the Noles up 13-12, Henke delivered with the biggest kill of the match to give the Noles match point. A ball handling error gave the final point to give the Noles its fifth-consecutive victory over Notre Dame.

Noles Pull Off Upset Win Over No. 15 North Carolina.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State volleyball team (15-11, 9-8) got its signature win on Friday night as it defeated No. 15 North Carolina (20-6, 13-4) in four sets (23-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-21) in Tully Gym.

The win over the Tar Heels serves as the Seminoles' first ranked win of the season. Florida State improves to 48-26 all-time over North Carolina and maintains a 32-8 advantage over UNC in the friendly confines of Tully Gym.

Senior outside hitter Iane Henke was firing on all cylinders, leading the offense with 23 kills for a .400 hitting percentage. On defense, she set a new season-high registering 15 digs and tied her career-high in blocks with five.

The first set was a battle for inches. Nine ties and four lead changes prevented either from gaining a sizable lead as the Noles and Tar Heels traded point after point. Henke provided a surge of critical kills that kept FSU in the race and totaled seven of the team's 13 kills throughout the set. UNC would pull away at the end, taking set one 25-23.

Florida State readjusted and worked ahead early in the second set. Service aces from Caylan Russ, Kyleene Filimaua and Lily Nicholson joined by strong defense at the net by Johanna Sova and Nenu Kpea contributed to a polarizing 11-2 scoring run. Five different Seminoles would register kills in a dominant 25-16 set two win, evening the contest at 1-1.

Set three saw the Seminoles jump ahead once again. A 6-1 surge featuring two kills from Henke and a service ace from Mio Yamamoto forced the Tar Heels into an early timeout. Though UNC would eventually find momentum, FSU matched their effort and never relinquished the lead. A combined 11 kills between Filimaua and Henke secured set three 25-21 for Florida State.

North Carolina would prove unwilling to go down in the final set. Both sides fought tooth-and-nail, tying 16 times and forcing six lead changes before Florida State pulled away at the 20-point mark. Excellent blocking at the net coupled with timely kills from Henke prevented the Tar Heels from catching up, and a silencing swing by Lexie Mason won set four 25-21 for the Seminoles.

Florida State hit a season-high .353 as a team, managing 58 kills. The Seminoles had seven service aces to the Tar Heels' three and put up 10 blocks to UNC's eight.

Seminoles Down Duke in Four Sets.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State volleyball team (16-11, 10-8) took down Duke (5-24, 2-16) in four sets (22-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-23) on Sunday afternoon at Tully Gym.

The Noles got great production from the middle attack as Delaney Ewing and Nenu Kpea combined for 20 kills on 32 attempts while also teaming up for 10 blocks. FSU recorded a team-high 15 blocks while holding Duke to just a .167 hitting percentage.

Iane Henke led the way offensively with 16 kills while Kyleene Filimaua picked up her third double double in her last four matches with 12 kills and 16 digs. Lily Nicholson also recorded a double double with 21 assists and 16 digs.

The Noles jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in set one, but the teams settled in and neither team was able to take a lead of more than three. Tied at 21, Duke took the next three points and eventually took the first set 25-22.

The second set was all Garnet and Gold as the Noles raced out a 17-9 lead and never looked back as they won 25-18. FSU held Duke to just a .086 hitting percentage with four blocks in the set.

The teams traded points to begin set three, but a couple of errors from Duke, a solo block from Henke and a kill from Filimaua gave the Noles a 14-9 lead. The Noles extended the lead to 18-12 and went on to win the set 25-18 to take the lead in the match.

The Noles looked to be cruising to fourth set win as the Noles led 18-15, but three consecutive aces gave Duke life and a 19-18 lead. The teams traded points, but back-to-back overpass kills from Henke and Kpea gave the Noles a 23-22 lead. Mio Yamamoto recorded a clutch ace to give the Noles match point, and Henke added one more kill to put the match away.

Noles Come Up Short at No. 8 SMU.

DALLAS, Texas - The Florida State volleyball team (16-12, 10-9) fell to No. 8 SMU (24-5, 16-3) in four sets (19-25, 25-23, 22-25, 14-25) on Wednesday afternoon at Moody Coliseum in Dallas, Texas.

Set one started out as back-and-forth affair as the Noles stayed within striking distance for the majority of the set. Two separate times, SMU extended its lead to four, but the Noles fought back to cut the lead to one each time. Unfortunately, SMU ended the set on a 6-1 run to end the set and take an early lead in the match.

The Mustangs looked well on their way to a 2-0 match lead as they led 23-15, but the Noles came alive and continued to chip away. Iane Henke recorded three-consecutive kills to cut the lead to four and force a SMU timeout. Henke and Delaney Ewing teamed up for the block, and an ace from Caylan Russ put the Noles within one. The block came alive again as Ewing and Lexie Mason tied the set at 23 to force another timeout from SMU. The timeout did not stop the Noles' momentum as Henke and Ewing teamed up for the block again, and Henke capped off a remarkable 10-0 run with a kill to tie the match at a set a piece.

The Noles kept the momentum rolling in set three as they jumped to a 5-1 lead and 10-6 lead. SMU fought back to tie the match at 12 then the teams continued to trade points as neither team gained a lead more than two until SMU recorded back-to-back aces to go up 21-19. A block gave the Mustangs a three-point lead, and the Noles were unable to close the deficit as they dropped set three.

The Mustangs dominated from start to finish in set four as they were able to take the match with a 25-14 victory.

Henke led the way with 18 kills to extend her streak of having double digit kills in 22 consecutive matches. Kyleene Filimaua added 15 kills while Ewing had a career-high 11 blocks for the Seminoles. Ewing is the first Seminole since 2023 to have 10 or more blocks in a match.

Noles Drop Regular Season Finale.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State volleyball team (16-13, 10-10) dropped its regular season finale against Clemson (17-14, 5-14) in four sets (25-21, 17-25, 22-25, 20-25) on Friday afternoon at Tully Gym.

Set one was a back-and-forth affair, but the Tigers were able to create some separation with a 19-16 lead. The Noles stormed right back as a service error, a kill from Nellie Stevenson and a block by Nenu Kpea and Kyleene Filimaua tied the set at 19 forcing a Clemson timeout. The timeout did not stop the momentum as the Noles scored the next three points and eventually took the first set 25-21.

The Tigers responded by taking set two thanks to a 7-1 run in the middle of the set. The Tigers went on to win the set 25-17.

The Tigers jumped out early again in set three and built a 21-15 lead, but the Noles continued to fight back as they went on a 5-2 run themselves but couldn't pull off the comeback.

Clemson once again built an early lead in set four at 16-10 and eventually 20-13, but FSU scored five straight to cut the lead to two at 20-18. That was as close as the Noles got as Clemson closed out the set to take the match.

Filimaua was terrific as she recorded her 13th double double of the season with 20 kills and 10 digs. Filimaua ends the season with 443 kills, the eighth most in FSU history in the rally scoring era and the most kills in a single season since Payton Caffrey in 2018. Filimaua also finishes ninth in school history with 4.35 points per set.

Filimaua's counterpart, Iane Henke, ended her final match with the Garnet and Gold with a bang. Henke recorded a double double as well with 17 kills and 12 digs. Henke put together one of the best seasons in school history as she will finish third all-time in FSU history in kills per set (4.43) and second all-time in FSU history in points per set (5.10).

Senior Nellie Stevenson and Lily Nicholson each had 40 assists while Nicholson picked up a double double with 10 digs.
